Can I go into Shanghai during a long layover at PVG (Pudong International Airport)?

During a long layover at Pudong International Airport (PVG), eligible foreigners can enter Shanghai and enjoy a 240-hour (10-day) transit-without-visa policy. This policy applies to citizens of 54 countries, including Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, etc. Eligible travelers must hold a passport with a validity period of no less than 3 months and a connecting ticket for departure to a third country or region within 240 hours, and they can apply for a temporary entry permit at the border inspection authorities at Pudong International Airport. Upon successful application, travelers can travel and sightsee within the designated areas of 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), but they must not exceed the permitted scope of activities.
