A: Outstanding Foreign University Graduates and Young Foreign Talents Applying for Category A "Foreigner's Work Permit in China"

  • Outstanding fresh graduates who have obtained a bachelor's degree or above from universities ranked in the top 10 globally.

  • Professional PhDs in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) who graduated from universities ranked in the top 200 globally in the past five years and are under 40 years old.

  • Young talents under 40 years old who have engaged in postdoctoral research at domestic or foreign universities, research institutions, enterprises, or medical and health institutions.

Tips: Included in the identification criteria (trial) for "highly skilled and specialized" foreign talents in Shanghai, they can apply for a Category A "Foreigner's Work Permit in China" citywide. If eligible, they can apply for a work permit with a maximum validity period of 5 years.

B: Outstanding Foreign University Graduates Applying for Category B "Foreigner's Work Permit in China"

  • Fresh graduates who have obtained a bachelor's degree or above in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) from universities ranked in the top 500 globally and are engaged in work related to their field of study.

Tips: They can apply for a Category B "Foreigner's Work Permit in China" citywide. If eligible, they will be granted a work permit with a minimum validity period of 3 years in one go.

C: Outstanding Foreign University Graduates Applying for Category C "Foreigner's Work Permit in China"

  • Foreign Students

    • Foreign students who have obtained a bachelor's degree or above from universities in the Shanghai area and intend to work in the "Double Autonomous" and "Lingang" areas, Hongqiao Business District, the "Five New Cities (Jiading, Qingpu, Songjiang, Fengxian, Nanhui)", and employers listed in the "Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Occupation List".

    • Outstanding foreign students who have obtained a master's degree or above from universities within China and intend to work in Shanghai.

  • Foreign Graduates from Overseas Universities

    • Outstanding foreign university graduates who have obtained a bachelor's degree or above from high-level universities abroad and intend to work in the "Double Autonomous" and "Lingang" areas, Hongqiao Business District, the "Five New Cities (Jiading, Qingpu, Songjiang, Fengxian, Nanhui)", and employers listed in the "Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Occupation List".

    • Outstanding foreign graduates who have obtained a master's degree or above from high-level universities abroad and intend to work in Shanghai.

  • Sino-French and Sino-German Interns

    • French interns must be current students or graduates within 1 year of graduation from both Chinese and French universities (including vocational and technical colleges).

    • German interns must be current students who have completed at least four semesters of higher education or graduates within 1 year of graduation from both Chinese and German universities (including vocational and technical colleges).

Tips: The graduation year limit for fresh graduates among foreign students and foreign graduates from overseas universities has been extended from 1 year to 2 years.
